Built in 1930 by Maharaja Sawai Man Singh 11 of Jaipur as a lodge for his hunting trips
to the jungles of Ranthambore which were the favorite hunting grounds of the Royal
family of Jaipur.Kota and Bikaner are the two cities between which Sawai Madhopur is
situated and its also situated inbetween the Aravalli Ranges and Vindhyachal range.The region around Sawai Madhopur is thick with remnants of its past history. Sawai Madhopur is the gateway to the world renowned Ranthambhore National Park, the famous 'Tiger Reserve appx. 14 kms.away from the district.
